What is the Hidden Price of our living, Personal DfE Part 1

Quote : Daniel Goleman, Ecological Intelligence

'Our world of material abundance, comes with a hidden price tag'

Everytime you and me drives to place of work, leisure or worship, there is a cost associated with Petrol/Diesel/Ethanol/H2/Electrons we use. The so called material abundance, where-in human consumption pattern are disrupting the source of their nourishment 'the mother earth'. It is similar to young man cutting the very branch on which he is sitting.

Like young man in Indian history Kalidas, who ended becoming scholar with grace of goddess Kali. But will our present day civilization awaken even when the branch has started creaking and showing distinct symptoms of what is to be expected, fall of self.

To make myself and readers aware of the hidden costs, here is a code - re-factoring sample I intend to highlight on similar lines of Code Snippets of Martin Fowler from Book "Refactoring"

Code of Life - Morning

Present Code

1) Wake up in a AC room at 7.00 Am
2) Walk up to bathroom, start the electric geyser 1.5 KWH power
3) Pick up the toothbrush, open up water tap, wet the brush. 200 ml water drained
4) Brush interiors of mouth, to extent of comfort and life long domain knowledge acquired from dentist.
5) If the tap is not closed, consider 1 liter of water further drained
6) Flush 2 -3 times mouth with water to flush Saliva, Detergent, Sugar and some unhealth chemicals designed by fortune500 company scientists
7) Request somebody to make tea, for self made men, make you own tea, with subsidised Natural Gas, Water, Sugar, Vessel (factor washing/detergent) + strainer.
8) If you are well read, means you are addicted to newspaper and that means you will read newspaper, which at least india trys to make every reader more depressed. So lets call this morning depression pill taken in by eyes.
9) Take hot water bath, shower (50-100 liters water used / wasted) or from bucket 20 liters
10) Put 4-6 clothes for washing responsible for 1/2 batch of washing machine
11) Put on ironed clothes (shirt/pant/tie/internal linens)
12) Start for office

..... above steps can be customized to one specific situation ....
..... now proceed with refactoring / redesigning for environment ....

The better you redesign , better is chance to make survival of homeland earth possible
